Hey everyone. Yes, it’s been a long time since this website updated. Excited to see a post again?
A lot of you have been emailing, hardly a week goes by without a new fan sending me a message asking me about recent releases or past-promised features. Today I hope to start getting back on track.
I’ve moved out to San Francisco and feel pretty settled out here now. Even past the recent gig, I’ve decided I’m going to stay. So, this may be a phase 2 for TRO.
I’m looking for local contributors. Primarily, I need help coding. For a long time, a major problem with this site has been slow loading pages, especially for logged in users managing their own collections. We’ve also had a lot of requests for a mobile app. A friend of mine has started to help with this, but we need more optimization before the site is ready to feed stuff to mobile.
I’m looking for help with book releases. It’s been some time since I updated and a lot has come out. I’ll be combing through what I can, but if you have links to comprehensive lists or have been compiling one yourself, that could help speed things up a fair amount.
Looking forward to chatting with you guys again as I move this forward. I hope everyone’s lives have been progressing swimmingly. Personally, I’ve just been happy to read some more comics again – finally finished all of swamp thing, even uncollected and had some time to read Madame Xanadu, DMZ, and have started on 100 Bullets. Now if Fables would just get around to ending, I’d feel comfortable hitting that up.
My DC reading has been on pause until I get back into doing the reading order… but maybe once I start up again I’ll be able to get back into it. Selling my whole collection put a big damper on things, but I’ve got access again now.

As I am recently getting into comics, I am happy to see your return to the site. I have always wanted to read comics and I put it off for a number of reasons. I read comics in the late 80s and early 90s. My trouble with comics has been that I am a completionist and, even moreso, someone who likes to read a story from the beginning. I discovered your site very recently and this provided answers to both of those questions. Thank you for providing this resource and I hope that you continue the hard work! It is greatly appreciated.

yeah, it’s a tough hobby to be a completionist in! Main reason I’m trying to settle for reading the stuff that’s available in trade versus trying to read ALL of it.

Holy comic ghosts, Batman! Welcome back to the fold, Ian! I must admit, I had sort of forgotten about this site. Awesome that it is still here. Especially since I had taken a few months off from reading but am now frantically catching up on things, which has been great fun.
Sounds like things are going well out there. Though I am reminded of a New Jersey native I met recently who moved out to L.A. He told me, “I love everything about L.A. It’s just that the ocean is on the wrong side.”
Anyway, I would like to help out as much as I am able to.
Great to have an update again. Best…

Hey, nice to see you!
I just found out today that my original offline DB excel file is somehow missing from my move so I’m frantically trying to find a backup, not sure how I’m going to update the site without it ! My home server got damaged when I moved out here, so I just got it back a month ago with what data could be recovered. bah.

AHHHH I think I found a backup! I must have saved one before last marvel update? Maybe? It’s definitely behind, but seems to have all the books in it so far at least…

It would be so awesome if this site got back up and running again; it has been one of the most helpful tools in figuring what I need for background or to fill in any holes on a story arc.
Assuming it all gets back up and running, would you consider making a new DC Comics section for The New 52! stuff? With the fresh starting point post-Flashpoint, I’m actually looking forward to reading everything in a universe-wide chronological order.
Whatever you can do to help is always greatly appreciated. Welcome back, Ian!! :D

yes, a tag for those books would be very easy to do. I’ll be updating once I’ve caught up, of course.

YES YES YES YES YES!
Is that eloquent enough for you? Glad to have you back!

Yes! I’m here! Constantly dissatisfied with the small amount of time I have to put into this site, but also still here! haha

Looking forward to seeing your review and updates. Since you’ve been gone I got into Marvel so I’m fucked… Bought a few Omnibus, Absolute Sandman 3-4, all the new editions of Knightfall and No Man’s Land, some Grendel, Madame Xanadu, Star Wars….
This blog might be helpful for you to keep track of new releases.

Thanks for the tip! I’m still working on and off on the update, it’s been increasingly hard to juggle projects (just signed an NDA about a new one) but I promise I won’t leave for good without letting people know. I’ll ideally be around to answer questions any time I’ve got an internet connection.
