I’ve been holding off on this until I did a solid update post, so here it is – congratulations to Josh from West Monroe, LA (TRO user Jockman) who won the Justice League International trade giveaway. The book is already on its way!
Right now, we’re still running the Batman: No Man’s Land giveaway and that Guardian Project promotion.
I want to thank Joe from Grantbridge Street, the Multiversity Guys, Mike Sterling, Kelson at SpeedForce.org, and Sean Kleefeld, all who’ve recently linked the site. I really appreciate the support, more than I can phrase adequately.
Beth has put in some Bat Book Updates:
Batman: The Dailies 1944 – 1945
Batman: The Dark Knight Archives Vol. 7
Batman: The Dailies 1945 – 1946
Batman: The Sunday Classics 1943 – 1946
Those 8 books now have covers and some publication info in the database.
I’ve been updating other books as we review them, one side effect being that we’ve got a few tags in the Marvel taxonomies now, ahead of the full list.
The lists are still unsorted, of course, so I wouldn’t attempt reading through them (even though you wouldn’t find more than a couple books on any Marvel list anyway.)
Finally, after the next review we’ll be driving 20 hours up north to see Beth’s family for Christmas. I’ll be throwing the scanner in the back of the car, so perhaps we’ll still see some review updates, but I won’t promise you they’ll be on any sort of set schedule.
If you’re on the road – have a safe holiday trip yourself!

Congrats, Josh!
And have a safe trip, Ian! I just arrived at my parents’ last night after spending a couple days with my grandparents in PA. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to “work” (i.e., blogging) pretty soon.

Where in PA? Beth’s grandparents are in Pittsburgh, her family is from there.
And thanks! I think I’ll have to get some sleep before we head out, I was hoping to be done with everything I wanted to do before last night. oh well!

They live a few hours from Pittsburgh, in a small town called Greenville. My mom and dad are both from there, and my grandparents all still live there. My dad’s parents are doing pretty well and are still good to travel longer distances, and they’ll be coming here to my parents’ house (in Maryland) later today and staying with us until Christmas. My mom’s parents are a little older and less able to get around, so it was nice to stop by and spend a few days with them.

cool, we’ve thought about moving up there one or twice. I’m kind of intrigued by Carnegie Mellon.
[Reply]
My friend is a graduate student in History at Carnegie Mellon, and he loves it. Plus George Romero went there, so you really can’t go wrong. :)
And Pittsburgh is a great city — my aunt used to live there, so I’ve been there many times. I like “smaller-but-not-TOO-small” cities like Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, much more than bigger ones (like Chicago — blah!).

Definitely thinking about it. We’ll see whether I even end up going to Grad school though. I’ve always wanted a doctorate, but more studying might be self indulgent. haha
[Reply]
Self-indulgent?? Haha…self-torture is more like it! I’d had more than enough school after four years of undergrad, and now I’ve signed up for five or six more. Sometimes I wonder what the heck I was thinking. :)
[Reply]
hahah, yeah – self-indulgent. I love learning but have a fair amount of trouble applying my knowledge to actually make a living. So justifying that much schooling is hard.

Safe journeying Ian, and I hope you have a nice time with everyone over the holiday period; try to leave the site behind if you can, just for a few days!
Buy just in-case you can’t I have two Batman related things to put to you:
-Batman:Long Shadows It should be moved backwards before Batman & Robin v.1 as the first few issues deal with Dick Grayson becoming Batman, whereas Batman & Robin he has already become Batman.
-Secondly and more shockingly I have found a Batman title not in the database; to be exact three titles, all individually collected, but I have the 3 in 1 trade. The three titles that I am on about are Red Rain, Bloodstorm and Crimson Mist. I have provisionally placed in right before Countdown Arena, as there is a vampire Batman in that book; there may be a better place for it but I’ll leave that to you.
Happy holidays
[Reply]
ahah, yeah. I think I have the Batman Vampire book in there somewhere, but I’ll double check and make that other change when I get home.
Thanks Simon, you have a happy holiday yourself! :D

Yeah my bad, I found it just. I was so shocked to find a hole in the DC list I had to share, I guess I shared it too prematurely. I had only looked under the individual titles not the combined title.
[Reply]
Really, following the method we use for everything else, they should both be in there somewhere. The Marvel list will be much more thorough, and the DC list will need some tweaking once that’s done.

Oh and having spotted where it sit’s in my collection I have found another thing (sorry!); it sits between Kingdom Come and The Kingdom, as does Batman Beyond. So putting aside the fast that The Kingdom was so terrible that it should have never been made, it should at least be right next to Kingdom Come surely?
[Reply]
Well, The Kingdom features some cameos, which I think determined the placement of those volumes between the pair.
Of course, I haven’t read any of those titles in so long that it’s hard for me to confirm while being a thousand miles away from my books, haha. (this means I did indeed get to NJ safely.)
If you look through them and feel a move should be made, let me know. I suppose we could move Kingdom Come forward?
[Reply]
I got an email saying I had a comment from Beth; multiple users on one PC, one downside of being away from home :P
Glad to hear you got there all okay; it is weird to hear you all talking of 1000 miles when my country is so much smaller in comparison.
I’ll confess it has been a long time since I read the later title, and I feel no great desire to read it again for the foreseeable future. I think I will move Kingdom Come forward, if the other cameos are needed for The Kingdom.
I am off to my dad’s house tomorrow morning, so I will too be separated from my books for a few days. What’s more my dad lives in the stone-age and has no PC, meaning no internet!!!
