I love Ex Machina. Can’t wait to see how that series ends (not that I particularly want it to end…).
Have you read Absolute Ronin, by the way? Or Ronin in any form, really. I’m about a third of the way through it right now and not sure how I feel about it.

No, I haven’t. I was just thinking about it, actually. It’s one of those few early DC trades that I haven’t picked up (mainly because I didn’t think it tied into the DCU at all) though I’m not sure if it’s influential enough to put into the reading order.

It’s completely unrelated to the DC universe. Yeah I don’t know if I’d recommend it…going off what I’ve read so far, I’d have to say no. But I’ll finish it just because I’m interested from the historical standpoint of how it influenced the comics industry.

Yeah it was, and it was also a huge turning point for creator’s rights and involvement on all levels of the project. Frank Miller had a hand not just in writing and drawing it, but how the book was designed and published (all the way down to what kind of paper it was printed on) and even the marketing.

I’ll reserve final judgment until I’m actually finished, but I think fans of Miller might enjoy it more than me. I just don’t enjoy a lot of his work in general. Not even a fan of Dark Knight Returns, really.

I sometimes like him a lot, but in general he hasn’t ever been one of my top creators. Batman: Year One was pretty great, though. That one deserves it’s praise. Mainly because it’s also so subtle, for his writing.
