Finally figured out how to get default post thumbnails working. Every book now comes with a little gray thumbnail by default, like this:
Not very exciting, I know, but it should make the reading order pages look a little more uniform (and is essential for some of the layout stuff I’m working on). Of course, the goal is that eventually every book will have an actual cover image!
Also working on the front page. Not much to look at yet.
Update: Well, it still could use a fair amount of tweaking, but I’m happy enough with it to reset the redirect from the blog. So when you visit the page, it should now go to the brand new dynamic homepage! Let me know what you think!
All this just goes to show that I can have work scheduled at 12pm the next day instead of 9am and still manage to get less than 4 hours sleep! I’m really good at that!
Cool, the front page looks nice! It’ll be even better once Marvel is up and there are thumbnails for everything, but even now I think it works pretty well.

Thanks Marc! Too true – once the content is in, it will look a lot more together.
Can you think of anything else you’d want to be able to access quickly on the front page?

Hmm…what about a Most Tagged Creators section? I know it’d be a long way down the road before something like that is really useful, but eventually I think it would be really cool to be able to click to chronological lists for Jack Kirby or Ed Brubaker or whoever right off the main page.

I was just trying to add a dropdown for that. As well as for the reading orders (even though they’re also up top.)
I want to also add dropdowns under the characters and events sections so you can easily see the most popular ones but can find any other ones through the dropdowns as well.
I was having some trouble with it though – the code doesn’t seem to want to work right outside of the sidebar. I’ll try again tomorrow.
