Update 2: The winner has been announced.
Here’s the weekly giveaway!
This week, I’ve got a spare copy of The Batman Chronicles Vol. 8. This book collects some great Golden Age Batman comics – specifically: Detective Comics #71-74, Batman #14-15, and World’s Finest Comics #8-9.
In this early volume the rogues gallery is in full effect. Batman and Robin are up against Catwoman, Joker, Penguin, Scarecrow, even lesser knows like Tweedledee and Tweedledum!
As an added bonus, there is plenty of Superhero vs. Nazi action in these wartime comics.
I’m a huge fan of the Chronicles series of reprints. Following the character instead of title (like the Batman Archives) is the way to go. I only wish DC would speed up their printing, since there’s so much to collect!

Well I just started DC Universe Online on the PS3 today. With Batman as my character’s mentor I’ve got the Bat-Fever (not to be confused with the Bieber Fever). I’m more then ready for any Bat-Ventures!

If you win, I’ll try not to accidentally send you a book of justin bieber comics.

Who better to fight Nazis than dudes in spandex?

@ Body62 That’s so true. I’d love to see this!

I recently bought and started reading Chronicles Vol 1, so this would be cool to get. I too would love seeing Bats fight Hitler’s cronies. :) And Ian, I haven’t looked at any of the Archive volumes, but I agree that DC should really speed up the printing of the Batman and Superman (and others) Chronicle volumes. I’m loving them.
[Reply]
seriously! I’m wondering what will happen once they get to serious crossover territory, but at this rate it’s going to be some time before we have to worry about that.
[Reply]
Given that the reprinting is not of complete issues but rather of stories in which specific characters appear, it does seem to make more sense to follow the character as such rather that the title.

Well I hope I get that book. I was a marvel comic book collector had to stop collecting due to Financial problems which lasted for awhile. Just started back this time collecting DC. Started with Blackest Night and into Brightest Day. Anything on Batman would be great reading material

Oh man, I saw these in the local comic shop and it was tough convincing myself not to buy it; after all it has no continuity Post-Crisis, but… it’s the goddamn Batman! D:
[Reply]
Well, doesn’t Morrison believe everything is in continuity?
I think that even if the comics are “wiped” from the character’s minds, everything happened. It just got deleted in their lives. Still fun for us to read.
[Reply]
Yes, technically it IS still continuity… despite the reason for the big wipe being all the continuity issues x3 The problem being that one might find it impossible to make an emotional connection to something made irrelevant… but of course, you make the perfect point, it’s still fun to read :3
[Reply]
yeah, exactly. For crisis on infinite earths to matter, you have to believe that all these stories did happen.

I’m a huge fan of the Chronicles series of reprints. Following the character and batman has always been ne of my favorites since I was a wee lad!

Thanks!

I’ve read the first Batman and Superman Chronicles trades, but I’m still meaning to get the rest of them…it’s been a while since I saw a good deal on the entire sets on ebay.

Wow this would be great to win! Its hard getting all of these back stories and to have them in a collection would be awesome
[Reply]
I’d like to work on my Batman collection and getting one for free would sure be helpful. :)
[Reply]
Sounds like a neat book, and it would be fun to read about some of Batman’s early confrontations with his villains.

It always is. These golden age volumes have a surprising amount of traction. It’s great that old comics, unlike some other media, are rarely boring.
[Reply]
Tweedledee and Tweedledum? Wow, I’m really missing out!
[Reply]
haha, you know it man.

I have the first four Batman Chonicles. I started my DC collection with Crisis on Infinite Earths and then was planning on getting Infinite Crisis stuff. Grant Morrison ended up reaping me in to a Batman collecting frenzy!
[Reply]
I know the feeling. Originally I was collecting just post crisis Batman, and then eventually just Modern Age, now I’m well into everything, haha
[Reply]
I want this!
[Reply]
Yay Old school batman!!
[Reply]
Chronicles is one of the best lines DC puts out I wish they would add more titles to it.

Holy GA Batman Batman!
