Got it, thanks. Cool site. :)

No problem – I get a couple people who leave comments without noticing that and I always feel kind of bad about it.
And thanks! Let me know if you find anything interesting or broken while exploring :D

Someone is going to have to explain to me how dibs works, someday.

Yes please. Some comics would break up the monotony of college reading rather nicely.

Tell me about it! That’s when I got back into it.

I just got my copy of Joker this morning. Thank you!! :D
PS: A one-week turnaround on delivery is awesome!

Great! Glad to hear it got there safely. I send them out book or media rate, so I’m sometimes worried it will take forever, but it seems leaving savannah is quicker than coming into savannah.

Some good old fashioned Golden Age stories? Yes please!
[Reply]
Glad to see there’s as much or more interest in the Golden Age stuff as there is in the modern age giveaways.

Thanks! I try to make every review as fair as possible, but sometimes I just fall in love with a book.

I’ve been on a Batman kick lately, but I suppose I could use a break with some fun Golden Age Superman comics!
[Reply]
haha, I suppose!
What Batman have you been reading? I feel like I’ve been spending so long in Year One era, but I can’t wait to get back to the 90s. I still haven’t read No Man’s Land!
[Reply]
I’m about halfway through Batman and Son – I’m trying to catch up with the current storyline. I’m backtracking a bit, as I had read Batman: R.I.P. and some of Batman and Robin already.
The Year One era is fantastic, though. I just loaned my Iron Man-fanatic boyfriend Year One (just for clarification: I am, in fact, a girl), and he’s now as Batman-obsessed as I am!

It’s a great starting place. I think that it and The Killing Joke got me back into collecting seriously. I’m sure that’s a common combination.
About your girlhood – believe it or not, I’m not particularly surprised! New comic fandom seems to be a pretty even split male/female. Which is awesome. If only I could get my fiance to stop painting for a minute and write some for this site.
I think that reading books and whole story arcs as opposed to floppies stuffed with ads might have something to do with opening comics up into “nontraditional” markets. But perhaps changing the thought that girls are an nontraditional market is part of it too ;)
[Reply]
The Killing Joke is one of my favorites. I mean, I’ll read anything by Alan Moore, but that book especially is just incredible.
Haha, usually the Internet goes nuts over female geeks, but it looks like the whole fandom is becoming more evenly split. It’s definitely nice to walk into my local comic book shop and see both guys and gals shopping – without anyone freaking out! I suppose now that comics have become a little more “mainstream” with Hollywood optioning books left and right, more and more people are getting into them. The more the merrier, I say. :-D

yeah, I feel kind of bad that I haven’t had Beth read it yet. She’s a huge fan of Barbara Gordan batgirl (she’s only read Batgirl: Year One, and the couple books where BG IS batgirl, plus Beth is a redhead.) She doesn’t know the awesomeness in store for babs, but I’ve been trying to avoid spoiling that book.
The internet always goes nuts over girls, but I’m not sure that’s just because they’re rare. I have a feeling that even when outnumbered, a lot of guys just like you non-guy people. haha

Interesting discussion between Ian and ArrowOfApollo. Back when I first got into comics, meeting women who accepted that obsession of mine was rare. Nowadays, it’s much easier to tell a potential girl-friend that I read comics. My last gf even borrowed a GN or two from me to read. ‘Course, we broke up before she finished it. But that’s a story for another day. :) LOL
I actually have this book on order from HeavyInk, but would love to take it off my shopping list. haha. I have been Batman-centric in my collecting habits for so long, I forgot about all these other characters in the DCU. Great giveaway, Ian. Hope the person who gets it enjoys it!

There’s a conundrum. Should I get a pre-nup for my comic collection before getting married?
Just kidding.
There’s probably nothing to be ashamed of about being into one character. It would certainly be much easier on your wallet (though Batman is a doozy – maybe a fan would be better off picking someone like Hawkman.)

no, he’s not quite the killer, but he does flip lois around for kicks to try and get rid of her. Check out our review if you haven’t already :D

Thanks! Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the reviews. I like the Co community at Reddit, lots of good stuff there. Great site design – with things people are interested in floating to the top. I like to share my thoughts there because if it ends up being boring it will just disappear :)

Hey, I saw you registered after you posted your comment. Since you registered before the deadline, I’ll try and figure out what your id number would be and put you in the drawing. But in the future make sure you’re logged in while you’re commenting – you’ll know because you won’t see the name/email/website fields – just the comment box.
