A huge thank you to Simon (TRO user Daemonicragnorak), who just sent me the first user submitted book review with the new interface!
His review also made it past my stringent editorial oversight ;)
And also congratulations – since I was going to send a trade to the first person to submit a review with the form, he’s unknowingly won himself a little book action!
Of course, he had to be in the UK – so I decided that instead of wasting 70 dollars on fed ex, I’d just get him a ten pound Amazon.co.uk gift card and let him pick his prize.
Simon, the gift certificate should be in your email. Why don’t you let us know what you decided to get in a comment?
Since multi-author reviews are moving forward, I revamped the review layout. It’s now closer to the contest or Uncle Gorby’s layout, with large thumbnails and little excerpts. I also added the date and byline – making sure credit is shown for every review author. In order to get everything to work properly, I actually had to get rid of the “Review” custom post type – so all reviews are now just regular posts in the blog category. No need to really go into detail since everything seems to be working fine now.
The book Simon chose to review was Hellblazer: Haunted. The trade has been updated with a cover and release information – stay tuned for his review in the next post!

Wow! I just had a day off from uni and was bored so I wrote a review, I never expected anything like that. A Huge thanks to Ian for the voucher, which I have used to buy “The Dreaming: Through Gates of Horn and Ivory“.
I shall definitely be reviewing more trades to show my thanks, especially how straight forward it turned out to be to write a review.
If everyone else can get reviewing too it’d be so awesome; just think there are about 100 users, and if we all write 20 each over the next few months that’s would soon get all 2381 trades reviewed!

haha, that’s a lofty goal! I’ve been doing the math in my head and thinking that I’d have to write one review a day for at least 6.5 years (not taking into account the couple thousand books I’m getting ready to post.) I guess I forgot that other people would enjoy doing it too :D
I’ll still handle scanning and taking pictures though, when others don’t have access (or are scared of bending their bindings, which I admit, terrifies me much more than it should.) I’ve got a couple scans ready to complement your hellblazer review.
